October marked our 6th annual Someday Ranch Junior Rodeo! What a day. There were Cowboys and Cowgirls everywhere. Wranglers filled the arena from 3 years old up 18! The rodeo kicked off with Naydeene performing with one of our horses, Nate, racing around the arena to the music of John Wayne's "Why I love this country" playing in the back ground. The weather made it a perfect day to see our countries flag waving as Naydeene proudly held on to it. Giggles could be heard during the day as riders were called to saddle up and climb on to full size horses to compete and show off to the audience what each rider had learned! This is the only ranch in Contra Costa County that offers its horses to all of their students to use the entire day during the rodeo. Most other ranches charge a lease fee for horses, or donate only a few to be used, and most do not allow three and four years olds to compete in a rodeo. Wether wranglers were attempting to ride the unruly sheep for mutton busting or racing horses around our arena in a cupcake race or pole bending race, cowboys and cowgirls were beaming with a sense of pride. Former Cowboy and Cowgirl of the year riders were proudly displaying their belt buckles with the ranch name, logo and their statice on them. Parents could be heard from the benches cheering their child on, to hold on and hurry up. Watch for our next Junior Rodeo in 2009, as this one will sure to be our best yet with new games, races, awards and more! I am proud to say all of our riders did a excellent job, and thanks to all the parents who once again helped out during the rodeo.! See you all again next year!
Someday Ranch and its family members join together and give back to the community. Naydeene organized a "Christmas drive" and help put together 43 care boxes to be sent overseas to our soldiers in need. Someday Ranch has held and organized several "Saddle Up and Ride" trail rides, for St. Judes Children's Hospital. This was the first time this event was held in Brentwood, at Round Valley park. The ranch raised over $4000 dollars for the children, on the very first outing. We also donate yearly to "Grad Night" at Freedom High School and Liberty High School. We collect and donate large bags of toys to help in the "Christmas Toy Drive" for Knightsen and many other events. Our Jr. Drill Team put on a performance for the "East Contra Costa Historical Society", where they were a huge hit! Clients have come together to make and prepare gift boxes for our troops overseas at Christmas. These are just a few ways Someday Ranch has helped the community.
